Here we met our tour guides Komico san and Keiko san and our photographer Ko san. Komico was the lead tour guide and Keiko was the junior tour guide. Our first stop for the day was the Tsukiji fish market. http://www.tsukiji-market.or.jp/youkoso/konjyaku/origin.htm
This is the famous fish market where a whole tuna can go for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The inner market only allows 120 visitors a day to observe the fish auction. We got to see the outer market which is a major tourist attraction.
Stalls among stalls of vendors lined the streets, each selling their wares to both locals and tourists alike. I found a vendor selling breaded shrimp and onion patties on a stick which were quite tasty. We then headed to Akihabra to check out the Animate store. It's the largest most popular anime chain stores in Japan. Akihabra is also known as electric town and has just about everything anime related. From manga to mech toys, this place has it. Akihabra is also known for it's number of maid cafe's. At night, the streets are filled with ladies dressed in various maid outfits handing out flyers advertising their particular cafe's.
We didn't have a bunch of time at Akihabra and a few of us returned on the last day of my tour to spend a few more hours checking out the stores. Next, we headed out to Sensoji Temple, it's one of the oldest shopping streets in Japan dating back to the late 17th century. Here's a selfie at the front of the temple area.
Here is a picture of part of the temple.
Here is a picture of all the folks at the temple. Some of the Japanese teens were dressed in their kimonos.
We then headed off for some lunch...
The black building with the gold flame (bottom right side). I had my second curry of the trip.
After lunch we headed off to......
The pokemon Center in the Namja Town plaza in Ikebukuro. From stuffed animals to all sorts of pokemon related products, this is THE place to be.
One the next floor is J-world the indoor theme park for the Shonen Jump characters of One piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z and Bleach among many others.
They had many different interactive areas for Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball and no theme park would be complete without a store. some of the One Piece Figurines for sale.
This was our last stop of the day, we got back on the bus and headed back to the hotel. For dinner, I went to the mall across the street and ate at.........Burger King. I know, I'm in Japan eating fast food. Well it was good and I did eat like the locals. I then returned to the hotel and had what was to be one of my favorites....
That's right, hot coffee in a can from a vending machine. Don't ask me how they do it, but I just accept that Japanese and vending machines have a zen relationship and enjoy the product dispensed from it.
